Picnic Dinner and the Playground

Dinner at the Playground
One Sunday Dan decided that we were going to get out and enjoy the weather. Instead of walking down to the Silverton Park I suggested finding an elementary school in the area where there weren't a bunch of older kids playing. He took us to his old "stompin grounds" at Victor Point where it was just us and the playground. Once Marissa saw all the equipment it was hard getting her to eat her dinner, she just wanted to play. We had a really good time, just the 3 of us eating dinner and playing on the playground. I love the country and the "quietness" that comes with it. What a fun evening as a family.

Just eating dinner.

Best family picture we could get on the Merry-Go-Round.

Smoothie Cups

She Might Just Be A LITTLE Like Her Mom
Lately I have been craving smoothies. I decided that instead of spending $4-5 each time I feel like one, I would buy the necessary ingredients and make my own at home. I also love finding fun, little things, like cups and containers and then call them for example "my smoothie cup".

Well, as soon as Marissa found out that I was making smoothies, she wanted a taste. At first she was really good about only taking a sip or two from my cup. That quickly changed one day, when she insisted on holding my cup...and then insisted that it was her cup. So, I found a fun cup for her that we had gotten free from a restaurant and designated that as her smoothie cup. She is so funny and LOVES her cup. Whenever she sees her "cup" she gets so excited. Maybe a little bit of her mom in her. We love our smoothie cups.

Sunny Days

Fun at Grandma's
I got a call last Thursday afternoon from my mom, letting me know that it had been almost 2 weeks since she had seen Marissa and that I needed to do something about it. So last Friday we headed over with our bathing suits on to play in the pool and swing. Last year my mom bought a small pool for Marissa. Once we got it out it was evident that it was for Marissa last year (at 4 months old), but we still had fun. We took the afternoon to swing (which Marissa LOVES), put our feet in the pool, and play in the sprinkler. What great weather we had!

Yard Work
For the last 2 weekends, Dan has been working on perfecting our lawn. Now to him that means ripping everything out and starting over again (only in the front, not the back...thank goodness). At first I wondered if there was an easier way, but since our concrete was put in the dirt was 6 inches higher in places, than the sidewalk/driveway. So, the "mini" was brought home and work began last weekend.

Marissa knew Dan was home and only a few steps away. She just wanted to spend time with him, no matter what he was doing. I think she actually liked being on the "mini". Here are some pictures from last weekends work (I'll update the progress from this weekend once I get some finished pictures). We are excited to have a finished yard soon. Of course we'll have to wait for the seed to come up.

Marissa loved just sitting and watching daddy dig.

...and finally decided she wanted to control the mini.
